Convenient location. Pet friendly with comfortable bed and pillows. Friendly staff and I was able to check in early.

Only stay here as a last resort. The room didn't smell fresh at all. I question if they even changed the sheets after the last guest vacated. A huge piece of carpet was missing under the window. Bare foundation was completely exposed. No hot water in the morning for my shower. Old tube type TV. Small room. Felt like i was in a hostel. Microwave on the desk which left no room for actually doing any work at the desk. Guest laundry, dryer didn't dry very well and I could smell a very noticable gas leak. This place was dirty, inefficient and gross.
Big shout out to Microtel ,My Family and I stayed two nights in two different states on our way to SD, I'm a borderline germaphobe and cleanliness is always the first thing I look for , presentation upon entry : very clean, front desk person: very pleasant ,the rooms ? Bee line straight to the bathroom ,sink , tub and toilet ? Omg , immaculate, bed made nicely, covers were tight and tucked ,Air was clean and crisp, carpet was clean ,I always bring my sleeping bag because of the dirty bed linen the Hotels claim they change ,I didn't have to unpack it. We drove from hotel to hotel because of the outside appearance so you can imagine what it looks like on the inside. So whenever I'm traveling and need to stay over night I'm finding my go to Hotel which is ? That's right People ...Microtel...great job Guys!
After reading the reviews we were hesitant but this is Owatonna and choices are limited. We stayed an extended stay and have had no issues. The name of the hotel is MICROTEL, that should be your first clue as to this being a small hotel. The rooms are very small but once again the name should be your first clue. Our queen suite was very well maintained and clean. The breakfast area and lobby were always clean. The owners and staff were always just as nice as could be and very accommodating. The guest laundry had an issue so the night front desk washed an emergency load of clothes for me in the hotel washer (husband needed clean work clothes). Our bed was very comfy. This is not the Hilton resort therefore you're not going to get a resort experience. I think all the hotels in the area are overpriced but for the price it's very much worth it. I have and will recommend staying here to anyone.
1st room had stained sheets, sticky carpet, no shower curtain, dirty bathroom, clocks weren't set on micro or clock not even a # on the door. Then they moved us to another room and it was worse! TV blurry, no door on the safe, no sheet at all on side bed, old, spring mattress, fridge FILTHY and on the floor, stained shower curtain that hangs, another dirty bathroom, carpet see photos DISGUSTING! TV gets 1 channel that is burry! WOULD NEVER STAY HERE OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. In fact I'm ready to get in the car and drive home! Take the time and look at the pictures! Would YOU pay $100 a night? Me? I'll be refusing to pay a cent.
