I want to thank the staff at Owatonna hospital for taking such good care of my mother during her brief stay there.
I always go here, i have the best Dr. ever Dr. Jason. He knows me like a book. I beleive they are overbooked because its hard to see your Dr. They are usually booking almost 2 mos. out. I dont like the rotation of nurses every 2 weeks. I loved Dr. Jasons nurse, Allison, but she took a different job. I have always gotten quality care its just too hard to get an appointment, but thats the Mayo that took over. 5 stars for my Dr. and 3 f i r the rest
Thank you for taking such great care of them!!
Rating only 2 stars because there was a couple nice nurses, & my baby made it out safely. Other then that my experience with the birth center was horrible. I'm a first time mom also, so I didn't know what to do really. First off, they didn't even check up on me, I had to get induced due to a cellulitis infection and gestational hypertension (so they call it but I know I had preeclampsia) I got a high fever and was shaking like crazy and throwing up lucky my mom got there in time and made them check on me and they just upped the pitocin and broke my water when I was dialated only at a 3.. I labored for a good 10-12 hours before they moved me to get a c section for "failure to dialate" I was very weak after but still breastfed and one of the nurses was yelling at me telling me "that's. not how you do it you're supposed to hold him like this" & corrected the way I was holding him! 2nd: I wanted my catheter out and the nurse wouldn't take it out after I repeatedly asked her too because it hurt and I wanted to take a shower. She told me I had to wait on my mom to get there! I had that catheter in for 28 hours and got a few horrible utis right after I got home(never had one in my life prior to that). 3rd: They wouldn't help me get up the day after my c section they said "how are you supposed to take care of a baby if you can't take care of yourself" I had 0 energy to argue or do a thing and was greatful for being alive and for my son to be alive and healthy, but what broke my heart the most is that they didn't even fill out his crib card. I will never be coming back here again & I pray nobody else has to go through this.
My parents get excellent care there, they would rather go to owatanna than Rochester. No parking fees and your in and out quickly, unless they have to stay overnight due to them both having heart issues. But when they say they will be discharged it's quick. Unlike Rochester where you wait half the day for paper work.
They are extremely understaffed. I was visiting somebody in the hospital, and i noticed there was a box of food sitting on the counter. We went shopping and 4 hours later it was still there. There's never anybody at any of the desks or counters, and the stores are hardly ever open. The halls are empty, and it takes a long time for a nurse to get to your room. But this aside, the hospital is VERY nice, and clean
